TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL CHARTER
-
Wear Comfortable Clothing and Shoes
Wear something you will be comfortable in. You will be getting on and off the yacht. If you are cruising in the fall months make sure to bring a jacket as it can get a bit chilly out on the water. Plenty of sunscreen is a good idea to have on hand as well. Non-slip deck shoes are a safety must for all yacht charters — avoid heels, platforms, and boots entirely. -
Pay Attention During the Safety Briefings
During check-in, the staff will provide both a charter briefing and a boat briefing. It is a good idea for all guests to participate and pay close attention. These briefings cover important safety details that will come in handy during your time on the water. -
Be Open to Adjusting Your Itinerary
It’s important to stay flexible with your itinerary. Weather conditions, time constraints, or unexpected challenges may require you to alter your planned route. Don’t feel tied to a rigid schedule—adapt your plans as needed, and always check with your captain or crew member to ensure your safety when changes are required.
-
The Captain Knows Best
It’s essential to trust and respect the crew’s expertise. The crew has years of experience and is there to keep you safe. When it comes to the cruising route, the captain always has the final say. The captain is best suited to assess if a preferred route is realistic in terms of time, cruising conditions, and weather forecast. While our professional captains always do their best to accommodate your preferences, remember that their priority is your safety, even if it means you may not get to visit every stop on your list. Think of it as another reason to come back for a future cruising adventure!
-
Limit Alcohol Consumption on the Water
While it’s natural to enjoy a few drinks during your yacht charter, it’s important to drink responsibly on the water. Overindulging in alcohol can lead to dangerous situations while cruising. Always prioritize safety and be mindful of how much you’re drinking.
-
Gratuity for the Crew (If Applicable)
If your yacht charter includes a professional crew, leave a gratuity at the end of your sailing journey to show appreciation for their efforts and service. It is customary to tip 15-25% of the crew fee depending on variables such as level of service, the length of the charter, crew size, and your overall satisfaction. If you’re unsure about tipping etiquette, here is  further guidance on this topic.
